What would you do if you witnessed your landlady beating her defenseless dog while you were lodging with her?
Carl Gough confronted the woman – but claims she then kicked him out, forcing him to sleep on the streets.
However, he managed to film the attack, which some viewers may find distressing, and the rottweiler has since been taken away from her.
Carl, 20, had only been staying at the house in Oldham, Greater Manchester, for two weeks before he heard the dog, called Lennox, in pain.
The bartender filmed the woman, wearing a Christmas onesie, kicking and hitting the dog, which was muzzled.
Carl said: ‘I could hear the dog screaming and when I went to take a look, I saw her hitting the dog with a shoe in the kitchen. I asked her what he had done to deserve that treatment, and she said he wouldn’t sit down.
‘Then she’s at the door doing it again. I went over and intervened – I couldn’t just stand there and watch. I then called the RSPCA and police.
‘The police said they couldn’t do anything as it was against a dog. It was horrific, it was very upsetting to watch.
‘She kicked me out for trying to help the dog and now I’m homeless.’
A spokeswoman for the RSPCA said: ‘The dog, a male Rottweiler called Lennox, is now in RSPCA care having been signed over to us by his owner the same day, and has been checked over by a vet.
‘We are really grateful to everyone who got in touch to report this.
‘A date has been set to interview the person in the footage. As our investigation is ongoing no further information is available at the moment.’
